Karen Wheeler and Michelle Beckham, RN, will be presenting this CEU event on Wednesday, May 23 from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. There are two (2) CEUs available.
Karen Wheeler joined Brookdale Senior Living Solutions in August of 2016 as the area director of community relations. In this role she works with nine of the area Brookdale communities, assisting with event planning, media relations and referral source development. She prides herself as a community resource for seniors, their families and industry professionals.
Karen joined the senior industry with a wide variety of experience in the healthcare and business marketing/sales arena. She has worked in both physician relations and ancillary healthcare services marketing, as well as provided employer services to human resource professionals. Karen’s background and expertise are in marketing, communications, business development and public relations. Her passion is serving seniors through referral source education, client services and customer relations. Karen graduated from Kansas State University with a B.S. in Journalism and Mass Communications, Public Relations with an emphasis in Business Management. Additional training includes Chamber Management Institute and Six Sigma training.
Michelle Beckham, RN
Michelle Beckham is the regional director of sales-skilled nursing at Brookdale Senior Living. She has worked in senior living for 23 years. She initially started in nursing and followed the footsteps of her mother. She began with Brookdale in 2001 as a weekend night nurse at one of their memory care assisted living communities, Brookdale Shawnee. In the 17 years she has been with Brookdale, she has been given numerous opportunities with a variety of positions. Each of these has given her a wonderful look at how different areas impact seniors from nursing, activities and healthcare liaison to sales. In each of these areas, Michelle has been able to assist seniors or their families in one way or another. She has a passion for seniors and loves the stories and wisdom they have to share. Michelle is married and has three children and a granddaughter. She loves to travel and spend time with her family, especially on cruises and in Mexico.
